Now released on NONPLACE: SHANK (non15) Title: DO distributed via MDM/ Groove Attack Shank is a pure 6 piece live instrumental group. Their motto: set up and play. Over the past 5 years they were touring Brazil, India, USA, Turkey and European Jazz festivals. On a rare occasion in Berlin June 2003 the group hooked up with Burnt Friedman as producer for a recording session. "Do" can be described as Abstract Global Music combining acoustic, electrically amplified and electronic sound sources. Hidden within the strands of predominantly laid back, but continuously groovy tracks are the seeds of a new kind of jazz: global grooves, volcanic energy, machine-heart magic. Shank members have worked with Teo Macero, Kevin Coyne, Jazzanova, Micatone, Orientation, Paul Brody Octet and Tanmoy Bose's Taaltantra. The musicians are known for their participation in various award winning radio-plays , dance-, theatre- and film-projects.
